Last week I went on a week-long house-building trip for charity to Mexico.
Several adults went along as well as roughly seventy teenagers from Los Alamos, New Mexico.
Together we built four timber frame and stucco houses for as many families who had been living in shanties made of chipboard and tin without windows.
The sense of community of the beauty of selflessness when a gift is given unconditionally was really brought home to me when at the end of the five days the house keys were handed over to the families.
In giving we connect to others and to the earth; we connect to our deeper selves.
How does it feel when you take without giving?
How does it feel when you give conditionally?
I challenge you to give unconditionally to someone today.
